The management of innovation and the development of effective strategies to enhance the performance and competitiveness of organizations are achievable through the implementation of structured processes of Strategic Intelligence. This is a methodology of my own authorship, honed over the last 15 years of experience as a consultant and educator, yielding demonstrable results and satisfied clients.
In recent decades, the concept of strategic intelligence has gained significant importance, particularly in the fields of business, entrepreneurship, management, and top-level leadership. However, it’s worth noting that strategic intelligence initially found its roots in military environments, tracing back to ancient times when warfare was the primary tool for problem-solving. It’s from this historical backdrop that the creativity of leaders was challenged to devise new ways to overcome adversaries. Many may question whether this concept is rooted in warfare, but it has since evolved into a vital tool for strategic decision-making in various fields.
The world as we know it is undergoing noticeable changes. Technology, science, and the way we manage under new paradigms are rapidly transforming our lives. However, the breakneck pace of change can sometimes leave us feeling disoriented.
This remarkable development inherently carries a message that encourages us to adapt to the emerging dynamics of evolution. It presents an opportunity to do things differently, step out of the box, break the mold, think strategically, and start acting consistently with the structures proposed by the recent technological transformation.
As we explore various conceptual proposals of Strategic Intelligence, it’s important to highlight that the most current approach with a visual representation is Aguirre’s (2015). Here, strategic intelligence is the fusion of Technological Surveillance (analyzing the past), Competitive Intelligence (examining the present), and Foresight (evaluating future trends). Through strategic planning and innovation management, these elements harmoniously complement each other to execute specific plans and achieve the organization’s desired objectives, ultimately impacting performance and profit growth.
